Imagine SUZANNE VEGA with NINE INCH NAILS - the group, that is - and you'll have a pretty fair idea of the startling sound of 99.9 F°, the folk queen's new album of tougher, industrial-tinged tunes. Vega, who has never heard Nine Inch Nails, says the suprprising style was the result of a happy accident. "We just ended up making this kind of rec- ord," she says of producer MITCHELL FROOM. "Mitchell suggested jumping off a few cliffs, and I guess I did."

Nine Inch Nails, een maffe band die zich tussen Carter U.S.M, Pet Shop Boys en Einstürzende Neubauten situeert, is met niemand minder dan de vrouwelijke singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega (bekend van hits als 'Luka' en "Tom's Diner') in zee gegaan. ' 99.9F', het ko- mende album van Vega, gaat dan ook vol 'industriële geluiden' staan.

"Eigenlijk zijn we toevallig in die niet voor de hand liggende samenwerking gerold", vertelt de Newyorkse Suzanne. "Producer Mitchell Froom, bekend om zijn werk met Crowded House, wou wat experimenteren en voor mij was dat OK."

It looks like the Dutch Magazine used the information of Rolling Stone. But they made a little mistake. The news of the Hitkrant: Suzanne Vega is working with Nine Inch Nails on her forthcoming record. The cooperation with Nine Inch Nails was the result of a hap- py accident, Suzanne is telling her younger Dutch fans. Not especially a happy accident!
